Clearly, we are living in a time where the over-reaching policies to protect the most ego-fragile humans ("unwanted advances", loose language, slips of the tongue) are differentially applied against productive people depending on whether they cross or adhere to any particular woke dogma. It's so Orwellian. Clear thinking, fair-minded people need to call out these Stasi tactics at every opportunity; there is so much to lose by remaining passive!
I watched the documentary about this brilliant man and I was just gutted. I am convinced that Roland Fryer is an American treasure. I come from the working class and now am statistically (although never in spirit) part of the UMC. I understand how the unfamiliarity with UMC social protocols can lead to misunderstandings like the one that fed the Title IX complaint against him. He failed at observing propriety, a cardinal sin among the elites. The fact that the UMC never tries to understand working class cultural behaviors both increases and hardens their prejudices and ignorance. I'm sure they assume: "Why should we have to stoop to understand these people? They are lesser. They must understand us and follow our rules, not the other way around."
The result, unfortunately, is the waste of a brilliant mind of just the sort we need right now to cut through the political BS that is consuming a massive quantity of American human potential. I deeply hope this man finds a path forward that will allow him to shine. His brilliance will benefit all of us.
I wonder how many other brilliant minds throughout history have been lost to a similar hubris? This hubris is the bane of the world, imho. Imagine the world we would live in if we encouraged everyone's potential instead of punishing people for not observing arbitrary rules that mostly serve to preserve power. In this sense, we are still barbarians...
I never thought I'd see a time when Harvard was striving for mediocrity. I always thought they wanted to be among the elite. You don't get that by firing your best faculty members for (gasp) thinking independently.
But wait a minute! Some of these people made false statements of fact and did so with actual malice and reckless disregard for truth or falsity. This was done for the malignant specific purpose of destroying a man’s reputation. That is slander that is libel on it face. Why does he have no civil remedy? This is also a malicious administrative abuse and prosecution. I can’t believe he has no civil remedy.
